The City of Concord has announced funding opportunities for local non-profit organizations to support programs and activities that contribute to the city's cultural, social, and economic vitality. Organizations interested in applying for funding must do so online at concordnc.gov/external-agency, with applications due by March 11, 2024.

According to the announcement, the City Council will hold a budget hearing in April to hear from organizations that have applied for external agency funds. During the hearing, organizations requesting funds are expected to discuss how their request serves a municipal public purpose and how it either supports an existing service or helps fill a void. The hearing will take place at the Council Chambers in City Hall located at 35 Cabarrus Avenue West.

"All requests for external agency funding will be evaluated based upon their merit," stated the city's announcement. The City Council retains the right to fund requests fully, partially, or not at all, depending on whether they advance a municipal public purpose and/or qualify as CDBG eligible uses.

Applicants were reminded that, in addition to financial reporting, all recipients and sub-recipients of city funding will be required to report agency and/or program outcomes using performance measures. These measures will be developed in collaboration with city staff following any funding approval by the City Council.

For further details on the application process, interested parties can visit concordnc.gov/external-agency. Questions can be directed to the Planning & Neighborhood Development Department at 704-920-5152.
